Acquisitions at Amcor double its profits

Amcor’s acquisition of the Alcan Packaging business early in 2010 boosted the fortunes of the Australia-based packaging group “well ahead of expectations” as net profit to the year ending in June almost doubled.

While sales for the global cans-to-cartons giant grew 26 percent to A$12.42 billion (US$12.98bn), net profits after significant items (relating to restructuring after the Alcan acquisition) grew 95 percent to A$357m (US$373m).
