July 21: Fillings of aerosol cans decreased slightly in the UK last year, according to data by the British Aerosol Manufacturers Association (BAMA). The UK filled 1.24 billion aerosol cans in 2008, down 1.5 percent year-on-year.
Cheap own-label imports and destocking had an impact on the overall market but last year’s figures show the strength of the UK industry despite difficult trading conditions, said BAMA.
“There has been some move of filling overseas during 2008,” director Sue Rogers said. “The UK industry held up well last year in generally difficult conditions with worldwide destocking evident later in the year and widespread pressure on price.”
