June 11: Fillings of aerosol cans grew 2.7 percent last year in the UK to 1,259 million, the British Aerosol Manufacturers Association (BAMA) revealed earlier today at its annual meeting in London.
Bama’s director Sue Rogers said: “This rise in overall fillings is a notable achievement for the UK aerosol industry as some companies have moved their filling operations overseas and, of course, 2007 saw the start of consumers spending less through high street retailers.”
The UK fills almost a third of the aerosol cans in Europe and is second only to the US in world production. About half of the aerosol cans filled in the UK are exported.
