May 27: Recycling rates of aluminium beverage cans increased again in 2008, according to data released today by the European Aluminium Association (EAA).
The overall recycling rate in the EU27 – 27 European countries including Russia and Turkey – rose to 63.1 percent in 2008, up from 61.8 percent in 2007 and 57.7 percent in 2006, representing an additional carbon footprint saving of more than 310,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents.
