World leading aluminium canstock producer Novelis reports that higher shipments, conversion premiums and metal prices lifted sales in the quarter to the end of June, the first of fiscal 2012, to $3.1 billion, up by 23 percent compared with the same period last year.

Profits after tax also increased, to $62 million, up 24 percent.
