Angelus acquired by Barry-Wehmiller

August 23: Angelus Sanitary Machine Company, the world’s largest can seaming machine manufacturer, has been purchased by US-based packaging specialist Barry-Wehmiller Co.
No financial details were available regarding the purchase, which was finalized on August 16, according to sources close to Angelus.
The deal brings together two of the canmaking industry’s seaming heavyweights: Angelus and Pneumatic Scale, a subsidiary of Barry-Wehmiller. Neither Timothy Sullivan, chief executive of Barry-Wehmiller, nor Maury Koeberle, president of Angelus, were available for comment on Wednesday, but receptionists at both companies greeted callers with the new company name: Pneumatic Scale-Angelus.
