Ball expands beverage can operations in Poland and Brazil

January 25: To meet rising demand for beer and soft drinks cans in central and eastern Europe, Ball Corporation is planning to build a second canmaking plant in Poland.
Colorado-based Ball – the world’s second largest manufacturer of drinks cans – revealed the plans along with a number of key management moves during a conference to announce its 2007 results.
The plant will be at Lublin, near the eastern border with Ukraine, and have initial capacity to make 750 million cans a year starting in 2009. This capacity will join that being added at Ball’s other plant in Poland at Radomsko which produces up to 1.5bn cans a year.
