June 4: Monster, North America’s leading energy drink by volume, has launched Monster Import in the US using resealable lids developed by Ball Corporation. It is the first time the lids have been used in the US.
Monster Import uses the same design of Ball Resealable End (BRE) adopted by Coca-Cola in Europe last year for its Burn energy drink. The BRE has an injection-moulded plastics device in the aluminium lid that enables drinkers to reseal the can and maintain the carbonation.
The 56.8cl beverage cans (with a 55cl fill volume) are manufactured by Ball Packaging Europe, filled in the Netherlands with the BRE lids applied and exported to the US for sale. (updated June 4)
