The Fray Bentos canned food brand will be acquired by Scots-based Baxters after the deal was approved by the UK’s Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
Famed for its pies packed in special cans made by Crown, Fray Bentos was one of the brands involved in last year’s merger of the Princes and Premier Foods canning businesses. Princes agreed to sell the brand to Baxters in November for an undisclosed sum to meet competition concerns.
