March 15: Europe’s drinks can market expanded more than 10 percent in 2006, posting the biggest yearly increase for more than a decade, according to the latest figures released by Beverage Can Makers Europe (BCME).
The figure exceeded the 8 percent that BCME had expected earlier in 2006, mainly due to the inclusion of estimated figures from eastern European and Russian canmakers which are not members of the association. Growth was even stronger in eastern Europe, where the increase was 22 percent.
