Beverage can sales at Ball lifted by US expansion

May 5: The acquisition of four beverage can plants in the US last year helped lift Ball Corporation’s first-quarter sales by 7.5 percent to US$1.71 billion compared with the same period in 2009.

Net profit was up by 14 percent to $79.3 million.

“Positive momentum in our metal can businesses continued from 2009 into 2010 and we are delivering the results we anticipated,” said president and chief operating officer John Hayes.
