Beverage cans add to CPMC’s sales in China

The commissioning in China of CPMC’s first two aluminium beverage can plants contributed to an 11.4 percent increase in sales in 2010 to RMB 3.42 billion (US$528 million), said chairman Wang Jinchang at its annual meeting in Hong Kong last week.

Canmaker CPMC Holdings, part of the COFCO food group, says it is the largest manufacturer of metal packaging in China, with 21 plants making both metal and plastics packaging for the food, drinks, personal care and industrial sectors.

Net profit was even more improved in 2010, with an increase of 44.5 percent to RMB212m ($32.7m).
