Bigger cans for bigger thirsts

October 31: Another manufacturing line for 24oz beverage cans is being installed by Ball Corporation in the US.
The move follows increasing demand for drinks cans larger than the common 12oz size.
The new line will be installed at Ball’s Monticello, Indiana, plant where a line was last year converted to make sizes up to 16oz.
Ball had capacity to make 24oz (71cl) cans at its Kansas City plant and two years ago installed a 24oz line at Golden, Colorado. The Monticello installation is scheduled for completion in time for the 2008 summer sales period.
It follows an increase in 24oz can capacity by Rexam in Texas.
