Brazil leads can recycling charts for eighth year

October 8: Brazil recycled 91.5 percent of its aluminium drinks cans in 2008, making it the world’s leading nation for the eighth year running.

Some 12.3 billion cans weighing 165,800 tonnes were recycled, according to the Brazilian Aluminum Association (ABAL) and the Brazilian Association of High Recycleability Can Manufacturers (Abralatas).
