October 30: Leading paint can producer BWAY Corporation is planning to close two of its canmaking plants and will transfer the business and equipment into the Central Can Co facility it acquired in August.
The move follows an evaluation of its operations and the acquisition of a plastics pail plant from Ball. Transfer of the equipment from the closed plants at Chicago, Illinois, and Brampton, Ontario, will be completed by the end of March 2010 and will create savings of $6 million a year.
