Can-Pack's drinks can plant in Russia officially opened

October 1: Demand for aluminium drinks cans is strong at Can-Pack’s new canmaking plant in Russia, sales manager Andrey Stolyarov told The Canmaker, adding that the popularity of alcoholic caffeinated drinks has helped to counter the decline of beer sales.

He was speaking during the official opening yesterday of the plant at Volokolamsk, which has been producing cans since being completed in January.

Can-Pack is owned by US-based F&P Holdings whose chairman Frederic Giorgi and president and chief executive Peter Giorgi (pictured with the minister of foreign affairs in the Moscow region) cut the tape to declare the plant officially opened.
