January 26: Mayors from cities across the US won $5,000 prizes for their efforts in promoting aluminium can recycling and collecting more than 125 million used containers during October last year.
The sixth annual Cans for Cash: City Recycling Challenge at the US Conference of Mayors 78th Winter Meeting in Washington, DC – organised by canstock maker Novelis, the US Conference of Mayors and Keep America Beautiful – pits cities of similar size to create campaigns that result in the collection of the most cans.
