June 16: Leading European tinplate manufacturer Rasselstein is warning that it may have to cut supplies to canmaking plants because of shortages in hot-rolled steel.
In a press release the German mill said that “the situation had become even more critical” following cost increases of up to 66 percent for iron ore, alloying materials and energy.
This had followed the increases of prices for packaging steel “by unprecedented levels” earlier this year.
