Beverage can shipments in the US last year finished 0.2 percent up on 2009 following a final quarter jump in demand for cans used for beer.

The year-end total for 2010 was 96.48 billion, some 200 million higher than the previous year, according to the latest report from the Can Manufacturers Institute in Washington, DC.
