November 8: French vegetable specialist Bonduelle has enjoyed a 26 percent surge in its first-quarter sales, to 368.8m euros (US$538m), writes Peter Crosskey.
These figures now include sales from Bonduelle’s recently-acquired Canadian-based subsidiary Aliments Carriére.
Canned vegetables earned 167m euros ($245m) during the quarter: the 22.6 percent year-on-year first quarter sales boost translated into 45 percent of total takings. Adjusted for a range of market factors, canned products are now worth 1.2 percent more to the business than the first quarter of last year.
