A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the expansion of Canpack’s beverage can plant at Bydgoszcz in Poland.
A fourth production line, representing an investment of PLN440 million (USD122m), is being constructed at the facility.
Małgorzata Podrecka, vice president of Canpack, who was recently honoured by Karol Nawrocki, President of Poland, with the Krzyz Oficerski Orderu Odrodzenia Polski (Order of Polonia Restituta), the second highest civil award in Poland, said the location aligned with the group’s long-term strategy.
“The expansion and installation of advanced technologies at the Bydgoszcz plant will not only markedly strengthen the plant’s can production capabilities but also allow the company to introduce a broader range of innovative aluminium packaging solutions,” she explained.
“We have been present in Bydgoszcz for nearly 25 years. We are glad that this new project will contribute to the region’s economic development and ultimately create new jobs.”
Marian Miskov, member of the management board and regional director for Poland, added: “The project will increase Canpack’s current production capacity of aluminium beverage cans in the region by more than one billion cans annually, with further growth potential in the future.”
She added: “The planned project will involve the expansion of the plant’s infrastructure with a new production hall, the acquisition of state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, along with the upgrade of the existing production lines. Production operations are expected to start in the second quarter of 2026.”
The production hall and warehouse will cover 19,000sqm, and the expanded plant is expected to add 100 jobs. The plant already employs more than 470 staff.
The project is also attracting infrastructure development to Bydgoszcz, with a planned railway viaduct and road building for the area.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Canpack management, local government officials, and US Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires, among others.
Construction will be undertaken by one of Poland’s largest builders ALSTAL Grupa Budowlana, with project support from the Pomeranian Special Economic Zone.
