Canvironment Week, the annual event that promotes the environmental benefits of metal packaging, has won the €10,000 Empac Challenge organised by European Metal Packaging, the Brussels-based association representing the interests of canmakers.

Organised by Atit Bhatia (pictured left with Empac chief executive Gordon Shade), vice president of Indian-based canmaker Hindustan Tin Works Ltd, the Canvironment Week project was judged by a panel to be “so innovative that it will raise real awareness about metal packaging and its key advantages across the globe”. Bhatia was presented with the €10,000 cheque at the final day of the Interpack show in Düsseldorf, Germany.
