May 11: Sales at North America’s top food can manufacturer Silgan jumped by 14.2 percent in the first quarter to US$651 million with most of the increase coming from the addition of international operations to its closure business.
But food cans provided most of the profits. Net profit rose from $39.6m to $62.1m of which $28.8m was from food cans.
