Coca-Cola’s Caribou coffee to use Ball’s aluminium bottles

August 6: An iced coffee drink by Coca-Cola and coffee shop chain Caribou will soon be launched in lightweight aluminium bottles made by Ball Corporation in the US, a Caribou spokesperson has told The Canmaker.
Production of the 12-ounce resealable screw-cap bottle-cans is due to begin in November at Ball’s plant in Monticello, Indiana.
Called Alumi-Tek, the bottles are less expensive than impact-extruded aluminium bottles, and around half the weight. They are produced using the drawn and wall-ironed (D&I) manufacturing process with necking and finishing technology licenced from Universal Can Corporation in Japan.
