November 27: The engineering contract for Chinese canmaking company Cofco Pack’s first two-piece aluminium D&I beverage can line has been awarded to Omnitech International, based in Colorado.

Cofco Pack, part of the diversified Cofco group, is one of China’s fastest-growing canmakers and has long been a leading supplier of three-piece welded cans to Guangzhou Wanglaoji Pharmaceutical, the biggest domestic producer of herbal teas.
Earlier this year Wanglaoji invested in a project to expand its filling lines with three new operations at Beijing, Hangzhou and Wuhi. These use aluminium two-piece cans with special coatings suitable for pasteurisation.
