October 22: Campaigners in the US who are against the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in packaging have racked up the pressure by rating food and drink companies on the speed at which they are progressing towards using BPA-free coatings.

Although BPA has been shown to be safe by reviews of research from government-backed bodies in Europe and the US, the campaigners claim that some companies are moving faster than the regulators in distancing themselves from the chemical.
