October 9: Anchovies are the latest canned food to benefit from the convenience of a peel-off foil end, after canmaker Crown developed a new size of its PeelSeam end specifically for the fish.
Crown Food Europe invested in new equipment at its plant at Vigo in Spain to produce the ends, which are an extension of its PeelSeam range.
Spanish canner Gil Comes is the first filler to use the ends, for the Hacendado brand of anchovies produced sold by leading Spanish retailer Mercadona.
