Credit crunch helps UK canned food sales

October 9: British consumers bought more canned foods last year as they began to feel the effects of the credit crunch, says researcher TNS Worldpanel.
Sales in the year to the middle of June were up 7.2 percent to £1.85 billion (US$3.19bn), which was ahead of growth in both the overall food and ambient groceries sectors.
