September 14: Crown is planning to close a food canmaking plant in Canada because its main customer is switching to a style of can that it can’t supply.

Management at the Crown Metal Packaging Canada plant in Winnipeg told workers last week that they had "no choice but to close the plant over the next few months".

The plant, one of four food can operations run by Crown in Canada, has been supplying cans for meat packing at the adjacent Maple Leaf Foods factory.
