February 2: World demand for aluminium will fall by nearly a quarter this year and prices will not rebound for many years, said Oleg Deripaska (left), chief executive of UC Rusal, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Saturday.

But while smelters will be forced to slash costs or go out of business altogether, prices will remain slightly below the average for the past 20 years, said Russia’s richest man.
