February 27: A German drinks company has launched a range of carbonated soft drinks and alcoholic beverages in cans that are exempt from the mandatory deposit system because they are based on whey.
Filler Rhodius Mineralquellen, based in Burgbrohl, Vulkaneifel, chose 33cl sleek cans from Ball Packaging Europe (BPE) for its whey-based soft drink brand Key, available in cola, orange and lemon flavours. The range is distributed by Seligenstadt-based GS Getränke Vertrieb, which has also introduced beer-like whey drinks Anno 1337 and Mobie, both in 50cl cans supplied by BPE.
