Drinks cans find new use in selling SIM cards

August 12: Mobile phone SIM cards are being sold in Ukraine from vending machines using drinks cans for the first time.

Leading aluminium can producer Rexam teamed up with Ukrainian radio-systems company TM Beeline to distribute its BOOM mobile packages through the street outlets that also sell snacks and beverages.

“You can now buy SIM-cards packed in beverage cans on the street in the city centre, meaning you no longer need to visit a mobile shop or a mobile operator’s office,” said Anton Volodkin, marketing director at Beeline.
