August 24: Malaysia’s leading canmaker Kian Joo and Japan’s Hokkai Holdings have teamed up to co-pack beverages in Vietnam, where growth in beer and soft drinks sales is one of the fastest in South East Asia.
To be called Kian Joo Canpack (Vietnam) Co, the business will co-pack ready-to-drink products packed in both cans and PET bottles. Kian Joo plans to sign the 60:40 joint venture with Nihon Canpack (NCP), a subsidiary of Hokkai Holdings that specialises in contract packing.
