Luncheon meat cans, such as those used for the Spam brand in Europe, will be much easier to open with the introduction of a redesigned lid.
The rectangular easy-open lids have been designed by Glud & Marstrand and are claimed to cut the opening forces by up to 60 percent.
Developed by the Denmark-based canmaker in collaboration with Japan’s Toyo Seikan the ring-pull ‘easyALUtop’ features the use of polymer-coated aluminium to replace the current tinplate easy-open lids.
