March 10: First prototypes of a food can with an easy-open end that dispenses with a ring-pull and offers resealing are due to be delivered for testing by brand owners this month.
The Cool Can Company, based in the UK, has been has been set up to develop the idea by Julian Parker, who also designs and sells security locks into the IT industry, and former canmaker George Wilson.
They reckon that the design could help reduce the 80,000 food packaging related injuries that are suffered by consumers in the UK every year alone.
