December 27: Metal packaging once again proved that it is the first choice for high-quality products, as UK-based luxury retailer Harrods chose decorated tinplate containers for a range of teas.
The cans were made by Hong Kong-based GM Metal Packaging for Harrods’ Opulence brand of six different blends of tea.
Managing director of GM Metal Packaging Sunil Gidumal said: “The design entailed more than 20 separate semi-automatic stages including the slitting and trimming of the 0.23mm tinplate prior to forming. Lower tooling costs enable us to produce a greater range of shapes than can be made in Europe.”
