June 5: Energy-saving systems such as geothermal heating and cooling could make a canmaking plant being constructed in the US one of the most efficient in the world.
It is being built by leading promotional can manufacturer Independent Can on a greenfield site at Fort Madison, Iowa.
Representing an investment of $4.8 million, the new plant covering 90,000 sq ft on a 15-acre site is expected to be opened in November and will replace a smaller factory built nearby in 1979.
