January 7: To keep pace with beverage can demand in Brazil, Crown Holdings is increasing the planned capacity of its latest plant in the country. Construction starts in March.
“We want to keep our market share,” said Crown Brazil’s president Rinaldo Lopes.
In what is one of the fastest-growing drinks can markets in the world, demand is estimated to have increased 9 percent in 2009 to around 15 billion cans, of which Crown has a share of 18 percent.
