March 3: Aluminium can recycling rates in Western Europe reached more than 57 percent in 2006, more than five percentage points higher than the previous year, according to the European Aluminium Association.
That’s on the back of a market that grew from 25.1 billion to 28.3 billion aluminium cans in the same period.
The increased recycling rate is mainly due to the numerous well-performing collection and recycling initiatives throughout Europe, says the Brussels-based organisation.
