July 8: Orders for a production-line speed up and an end-making line at Iraq’s first beverage can plant have been placed for delivery in mid-2010.
The plant is being built for Middle East Packaging Materials Ltd for the local Pepsi franchise holder, in which Jordan-based soft drinks producer Neba is thought to have a stake.
The factory, the lines for which are being engineered by Dubai-based NDH Group, is under construction on an integrated site at Zafrania in South Baghdad adjacent to the Pepsi canning plant. Commissioning of the project – with an estimated value of $100 million – is expected by early in 2010.
