November 2: Leading Indian canmaking company Hindustan Tin Works Ltd (HTWL) reports that its exports more than doubled in the six months to the end of September.
Sales in the second quarter increased by 27 percent to Rs 74.1 crore (US$16.7m) compared with the same period in 2009 while exports in the three months were up 50 percent to Rs 14.8 crore ($3.3m). Profit before tax was up 37 percent to Rs 3.87 crore ($872,000), while net profit was up 13 percent to Rs 2.5 crore ($563,000).
