April 22: US drinks can shipments in the first three months of 2007 were down compared with the same period last year.
Almost 22.6 billion cans for beer and beverages were used, according to figures released by the Washington-based Can Manufacturers Institute. This was 4.1 percent down on the first quarter for 2006 and was also very slightly down on the figure for the first quarter of 2005.
