October 10: The environmental credentials of metal packaging have been improved with the introduction of a recycling process for aerosol cans that contain foam and gel products. It now processes the propellant gases as well as the metal and any residual contents.
UK-based De-Pack specialises in recycling aerosol cans with a process which recovers liquids and gases and uses them as fuel, as well as recovering the metal. Until now, the process was not suitable for foam and gel products, which instead had to shred the cans, releasing the contents into the atmosphere.
