Germany’s Rasselstein to increase tinplate prices

March 28: Driven by rising costs, German tinplate maker Rasselstein has announced plans to increase prices for deliveries in 2009.
Speaking to journalists in Düsseldorf earlier this week, Rasselstein’s chief executive Dr Ulrich Roeske said: “Never before have we experienced such a simultaneous explosion in the costs of almost all our input materials.
“With ore prices set to go up by 65 percent in 2008 and prices for alloying elements, coal, energy, scrap and transportation also rising, we face drastic increases in our starting material costs,” said Roeske.
