May 13: A programme to improve the health and well-being of staff at the Impress aerosol canmaking plant at Merthyr Tydfil in Wales has been recognised with a government-backed Gold Corporate Health Standard Award.
The programme was started three years ago to improve production, efficiency and staff morale by creating a positive and safe working environment. Human resources manager Melanie Jenkins (pictured centre with Russell Sherwood, left and Maria George, three members of the 10-strong safety committee) led the programme with the involvement and full support of senior management and the trade unions.
