February 28: Brazilian food canner Quero Alimentos is reported as the target of a merger or acquisition by Heinz, in what would be the Pittsburgh-based global food giant’s first manufacturing move in South America.

The deal could be worth up to 1 billion reais ($600 million), according to Brazil’s Valor Economico newspaper.
