Huber’s beer keg wins IPA’s innovation award

August 6: Germany’s Huber Packaging Group won the 2009 Innovation Award from the International Packaging Association (IPA) for a five-litre tinplate keg that maintains the beer’s freshness for a month after opening.

The IPA, a canmaking representative body, presented the award at its general assembly recently held in London.

At the meeting, the IPA also decided to launch and support campaigns that promote the environmental friendliness of metal packaging, while it set out to increase contact with other associations in order to speak with one voice, said the IPA’s technical officer Joerg Pfuetzner.
