December 2: The proposed 1.7 billion euro (US$2.24bn) acquisition of Impress Cooperatieve UA, the Dutch-based holding company for canmaker Impress, by Ardagh Glass Group has been cleared by the European Commission under EU Merger Regulations.

After examining the operation, the Commission concluded “that the transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) or any substantial part of it”.
