Increase component life with die and punch carbides

April 23: Higher resistance to wear is offered by the latest materials for beverage can punch and ironing dies from Sandvik Hard Materials, based in Spain.
Its Grade TR80 cemented carbide is designed for ironing dies, and is said to offer a production life between regrinds three times longer than standard dies, as well as improved sliding properties which reduces bodymaker power consumption by 42 percent and metal build-up on the tooling.
