Independent to close Bertels Can plant

February 27: Independent Can, the leading US decorative canmaking firm that last month celebrated its 80th anniversary, is to close its Bertels Can plant at Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania (pictured).

Equipment from Bertels will be transferred next month to Independent Can’s factory at Fort Madison, Iowa, which was opened in 2008.
